DST is Here!

Daylight Saving Time is here!

The 'idea' of 'Daylight Savings Time' (DST) a good or bad idea?

Is this a 'wise move' for our internal clocks??

The name of 'DST' is sort of a misrepresentation.
Why, because we really don't 'Save Time'.

Actually we 'lose an hour' until the Fall,
then we get the 'hour back'.

So the question remains, how do we 'Save Time' on the DST schedule??  And is it a good thing or a bad thing??  The question is subjective.

The 'day-light' does last longer in the evening, but we 'stole it' from the morning sunrise!!

Oh well, it is a great reminder that the Spring season just around the corner.

I was wondering who came up with this suggestion or idea and, it was thought to be a wise move to benefit human kind.

We have to go back in 'colonial history' and the idea of 'daylight savings time' was first conceived by Benjamin Franklin during his visit as an American delegate in Paris in 1784.  He presented this idea in an essay, entitled "An Economical Project."  I would guess that it allowed 'the colonials' to harvest later in the day, but really doesn't benefit the growing of crops.

It is interesting that Daylight savings time didn't become a law until 1966 under President Johnson.  I think by then, people were more interested in their leisure activities like golfing, baseball and more time at the pool & vacationing.

All this 'wise thinking' about DST by supposedly 'wise men' made me think about the following Bible verse:
"For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God".  1 Corinthians 1:25‭-‬29 ESV
When we think that we are wise by 'man's standard' or 'boast about ourselves,' we are leaning on the 'worldy standards' of intelligence.  This mindset is sin.  Why, because God resist the proud and man's arrogance about 'their wisdom'.

God is the giver of all things.
Daytime, night time and the seasons.

In every season of life, in everything we are to remain humble, teachable and obedient so that the Lord will give us the wisdom that we need for every season of our lives (even when there is the corona virus) .

I don't know if Ben Franklin or President Johnson were 'being proud' in their moves about DST, but we will take 'the longer days' and use the 'extra daylight hours' for God's glory and plan!

Ps . . . if you are sleepy, wait till November 1st . . . you will get your hour of sleep back then 😉.

God Bless,
Faith Man
