The Two vs. Ten

Good Morning Dear Friends,

How in the World are you?
Good I hope!

Today's LEJ title is 'The Two vs. Ten'.
Those who are Bible readers and Bible students probably know were I am headed with today's LEJ message.

The Spies Mission
Per the Lord's command (See Numbers 13:1-2), Moses had selected 12 spies from each tribe of Israel to 'spy out' the 'Promised Land' on their journey to Canaan.

Their mission's 'job assignment'
1) See the Land (observe geography).
2) Check out the people (are they strong or weak, few or many).
3) Check out the land's dwellings (buildings, roads, walls, etc).
4) Check out the lands' produce (food, wood and commerce benefits).

The Mission & Report
The 12 spies head out on their mission.  They were gone 40 days and collected figs, grapes and pomegranates and returned to Moses and the congregation of Israel with 'their report'.

The spies reported that 'the Land' surely flowed with 'Milk and Honey'. And, the 'fruit displayed' to the congregation was the evidence of the produce of the land.

Then,

The '2 vs 10'
'10' of the spies reported that the people there were 'strong' and that their cities were 'walled' and 'very great' and this report stirred up the children of Israel.  (Sounds like excuses, excuses, excuses - the '10' used their thinking instead of their trusting)

Then, Caleb 'quieted the people' before Moses, and said "Let us go up at once, and possess it; 'FOR WE ARE WELL ABLE TO OVERCOME IT'".

And, the rest is history.

Because the children of that generation 'listened to the evil '10 report' instead of the report of Caleb and Joshua, that generation of children of Israel missed out on God's blessing of the 'land of Milk and Honey'.

What does this story mean for us today?

We have a choice either to listen to the 'evil reports' of the 'channel 10' news folks, and the giant networks of negativity, or believe the Word of God and persevere with 'God's Word' and take on the 'walled cities' that try to undermine our faith.

Every generation will have their battles to fight and their 'faith to be tested' sometimes, and this faith is sometimes tested 'to the max'.

We DO have a tremendous promise in the Word of God that serves to encourage us during our times of trials and temptations.

Please observe:

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer (or allow) you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it". 1 Corinthians 10:13

The next time an evil report comes to you concerning your health, your family, your finances, etc . . . take time to go to God 'first' and get 'God's Report' on your situation that you are facing.

'The majority '10' were wrong in this story.  The 'minority 2' were right.

Let's listen and obey God's command about our situations.  I'm sure His report will settle our hearts and minds.

I like milk and honey.  How 'bout you?!

Faith man.
