Gratitude for Faithful Christians

            Happy Thanksgiving Month 👐

Faithful Christian Friends!

"'Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles, but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, ' II Timothy 1:8-11

'The Hero Code' by Adm. William H. McRaven.
Published by Grand Central Publishing.

This past summer I read a good book called 'The Hero Code,' by Adm. William H. McRaven.
Chapter 7 of this book is entitled 'Duty'.  The author tells of the 'Code of Conduct' of soldiers that is taught to the soldiers serving in the armed services.

This code was not to be violated in the event that the soldier is caught and made a Prisoner of War (POW).  Soldiers are taught not to desert their fellow POWs by accepting parole or special favors from the enemy.

Also in this chapter, is the story of Lt. Commander John McCain who was captured by the North Vietnamese and taken to the infamous "Hanoi Hilton" POW camp.  Commander McCain refused to accept parole, release and inspired other prisoners to give moral credence to the Code of Conduct.

What does this story have to do with the Christian? We are not to desert our 'brothers & sisters' in Christ.  I am mindful of the early 'Faithful Christians' who wrote down and followed 'God's Code of Conduct' in the Bible.  I am thankful of the Apostle Paul and many others who exhibited their faith in God so that we could know the Word of God and live victoriously today.

You and I now have a responsibility to live by the "Christian 'hero code'".  That is, to remain Faithful to God and to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

How do we remain faithful?  By prayerfully using our gifts, know our callings and provide ministry daily in the Body of Christ with what God has given us.

I think of all the 'Faithful Christians' who have inspired and helped me over the past 47+ years.  Their testimonies, faithful lifestyle and prayers still impact me today.

Your 'Thanksgiving Challenge' today is to think of a person or two who shared with you with the Gospel that made you the person that you are today.  Your sharing has made you a 'Hero' in God's family. Amen!

Be Faithful, Courageous, Steadfast in the Faith!
