Season of Advent: Joseph: "Righteous & Kind"

Good Morning! It's Happy Monday Y'all 😊

You are 'looking good' this morning!

How do I know this??

Because if you are reading this 'Season of Advent' Blog, I know that you have been directed here by the Holy Spirit and He has a way of shinning us up so that we can 'Shine out' for the Lord. And, I am truly grateful for that.  May we all listen to the Lord through these messages as we soon will celebrate the Lord's birth! ✧

Mary & Joseph starting on their Journey to Bethlehem

I've been thinking about the character of 'Joseph'.  Such a man of 'righteous and kind' character.  Joseph was betrothed to Mary, then found out that she was expecting a child, went to great lengths to not disgrace her but to break their engagement quietly.

Let's read the account of 'Joseph's story' from the gospel of Matthew.

'This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph.  But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. Joseph, to whom she was engaged, was a righteous man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet: “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’” When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife. But he did not have sexual relations with her until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus.'

Matthew 1:18-25

God knew Joseph's character.  His character was 'righteous and kind. And, I would also like to mention Joseph's obedience were part of his character too.

How does our 'character' line up to that of Joseph?
Does our actions & character speak 'louder than our words?'
During these days of Advent, may we prepare our hearts aright with the Lord
So that our character will reflect the goodness of God!
And, to be righteous and do right things & to be kind and humble as we go about this Advent Season and for eternity.
This Advent Season to me is a reminder, that the Lord is coming again sooner with each passing day.
May we submit our souls to a loving and faithful Lord. Amen!
Jim

Ps - may the Lord bless you all and shower you with His countenance especially during this Advent Season. Amen!
